Carpet
Carpet over winders on a curve
A curved flight carpeted through its winders, where every tread narrows to a point at the inside of the turn.
What we did
Winders are the pie shaped treads that take a staircase round a corner. Each one is a different triangle, wide at the outside of the turn and almost nothing at the inside, so none of them shares a measurement with the one below it. The carpet has to be eased in so the pile still runs straight down the flight even though the tread under it is turning, and it has to stay tight at the narrow end where there is least to hold it.

We come out, measure for free, and put the quote in writing before anything starts.
More of our work
Curved staircase in carpet
A curved staircase stripped back to bare treads and recarpeted around its full sweep, cut tight to the oak stringer on every winder.
Open riser stairs in carpet
Open riser basement stairs carpeted, with every tread wrapped around the front and the underside so there is no raw edge anywhere.
