Centre runner on a curved oak staircase
A bound runner held to an even margin of bare oak on both sides, all the way through the turn.
What we did
A runner on a straight flight is a repeating measurement. On a curve it is not: the treads turn to winders, so the runner has to narrow and pivot while the bare oak showing on each side stays the same width from the bottom step to the top. That margin is the whole job. If it drifts by even a little the eye picks it up straight away, because it runs beside a straight skirting the whole way.
Thinking about a job like this?
We come out, measure for free, and put the quote in writing before anything starts.
More of our work
Curved staircase in carpet
A curved staircase stripped back to bare treads and recarpeted around its full sweep, cut tight to the oak stringer on every winder.
Open riser stairs in carpet
Open riser basement stairs carpeted, with every tread wrapped around the front and the underside so there is no raw edge anywhere.
