Carpet
A wrapped bullnose starting step
The rounded bottom step wrapped in carpet and finished tight around the spindles and down to the tile.
What we did
The bottom step is the one everybody walks past and nobody looks at until it is wrong. It curves in two directions at once, so the carpet has to be eased round the nose without stretching it out of shape, cut in around the foot of each spindle, and finished along the floor where it meets tile on one side and wood on the other. There is nowhere on a step like this to hide a cut.

More of our work
Curved staircase in carpet
A curved staircase stripped back to bare treads and recarpeted around its full sweep, cut tight to the oak stringer on every winder.
Open riser stairs in carpet
Open riser basement stairs carpeted, with every tread wrapped around the front and the underside so there is no raw edge anywhere.
